lesson #1: ATTACHMENT POINT SYSTEM

Attachment Point System is about replacing a worn item on your avatar with another so you wont end up wearing 2 skirts.

 For example you are wearing a skirt on Left Hip and you put on antoher skirt on Left Hip.
You can choose how you wear it (Right click on Skirt object):
  •  Wear ---> Skirt will replace worn Skirt. You end up wearing 1 Skirt. (On Wardrobe: REPLACE)
  •  Add  ---> You end up wearing 2 Skirt.

Who wants to use Attachment Point System?
  • beginers
  • person who likes mix and match different clothes pieces
  • person who doesnt like to be bald and naked while proccessing outfit change

For a starter the best way to learn Wardrobe is start with Attachment Point System.
Do lesson 2# for practice.

For set Default Attachment Point for a Skirt, you right click on Skirt object in your inventory, choose Attach To and select Left Hip.

Now SL will remember wear the skirt on Left Hip no matter you choose Wear or Add.

You can worn items on different Attachment Points:
  1. Chest
  2. Skull
  3. Left Shoulder
  4. Right Shoulder
  5. Left Hand
  6. Right Hand
  7. Left Foot
  8. Right Foot
  9. Spine
  10. Pelvis
  11. Mouth
  12. Chin
  13. Left Ear
  14. Right Ear
  15. Left Eyeball

  22. Right Hip
  23. R Upper Leg
  24. R Lower Leg
  25. Left Hip
  26. L Upper Leg
  27. L Lower Leg
  28. Stomach

  32. [HUD] Top Right
  33. [HUD] Top
  34. [HUD] Top Left
  35. [HUD] Center
  36. [HUD] Bottom Left
  37. [HUD] Bottom
  38. [HUD] Bottom Right
  39. Neck

  50. Alt Left Eye
  51. Alt Right Eye
  52. Tongue
  53. Groin
  54. Left Hind Foot
  55. Right Hind Foot

For use Attachment Point System you need to set few things.
  1. on Wardrobe webpage in Main Preferences
  • New Item Defaults Tab: "Use the extended options below" and make all checkboxes empty.
  • Dressing Tab: Quick Dress Default: Replace. (This way the Replace will be the Default Wearing Policy globally.)
  • Base Outfits: Replace

2. on the item Entry set Wearing Policy: "Default as in the Preferences"

Using Replace Wearing Policy for:
  • tops (shirt, t-shirt, crop taop, halter, blouse, Bralette, Bra, Sweater, closed jacket) ---> Left Shoulder
  • bottoms (pants, jeans, skirt, leggings, jogger pants, panties) ---> Left Hip
  • hair (1 piece hair object, bun) ---> Skull
  • shoes ---> Left Lower Leg
  • Mesh bodies ---> Avatar Center
  • Mesh Feet ---> Left Hind Foot
  • Mesh Hands ---> Left Hand
Using Add Wearing Policy for:
  • non rigged jewelry ---> wearing on the attachment point that creator defined (not changing attachment point)
  • rigged jewelry ---> Chest, Neck, Nose, Left Ear, Right Ear, Ring Finger, Left or Right Lower Arm, Left or Right Upper Arm. (not letting it be worn on Right Hand that usually creators defined). These body areas choosen by the jewerly type.
  • hair pieces (bangs, whisps, any additonal hair pieces that wanna worn same time with the hair)
  • accessories (hat, bag, belt, gloves, stockings, cigarette, umbrella, shoulder pet, bubble gum, body glitter, collar, scarf, tie, cuffs, armband, glasses...etc.)
So basically anything that doesnt match the list of Replaces Wearing Policy that will use Add Wearing Policy.

lesson #2: Quick Setup for Single item Skirt or Pants or Shoes

This lesson shows really fast how you can make 3 skirt replace each others on your avatar when putting on one skirt after other without ending up wearing 2 skirts.

Turn on Attachment Point System on your Wardrobe Page:

 If you wanna understand what we are doing in this lesson go to lesson #1 .

Lets start with 3 rigged mesh skirt. Just follow these steps one by one.

1. Find 3 Skirt in your Inventory that you want to set up for Wardrobe.

2. We set the Left Hip attachment point for wear the skirts by default.

     - how? Go to Inventory and Right Click on Skirt and Choose Attach To > Left Hip

If you wanna set up Rigged Pants or Rigged Shoes all the steps are same but:

           - For Pants attachment point is: Left Hip

           - For Shoes attachment point is: Left Lower Leg

3.  Upload/Import/Add your skirt picture to Wardrobe

   - how? There is many way

 - Tools, Import From Marketplace: this will create a new item and will load the picture of skirt
 - Tools, Upload Image: this way you can upload skirt picture from your hard disk if you saved it from a website or you have an url of the skirt picture you can paste it here
 - Using the HUD:
               -  just click the snapshot button and then enter the Marketplace url
                - or there is full perm vendor picture of the skirt in the folder: Drop picture on the hud
...etc.

4. For not working too much just give same Title for your uploaded Item as the skirt folder is named in your Inventory.

5. Tags: You can use different way of tagging. one is the folder path system

Clothes/Bottom/Skirts/Short

other is the modular tagging system. I'm using the modular tagging system which means each tag is only 1 word.

                      ☑ Clothes
                      ☑ Bottom
                      ☑ Skirts
                      ☑ Short

[You can find the Full list of Tags here]

6. Click OK! And your skirt item will be saved like this:

Set the Replace layers and attachments in main preferences globally. Main Preference settings looks like this:

7. Click on Yellow Pencil Icon to edit your Entry and go to Dressing Tab and set

            Wearing Policy: Default as in the Preferences
            Layers to remove: dont remove any, uncheck all boxes, make them empty.

8. Hit OK.

9.
Go to SL Inventory and in RLV Folder make this path:

#RLV
   [CLOTHING RLV]
       [SKIRT RLV]
           [SHORT SKIRT RLV]
                Jeune by Rowne.Brandi PVC Skirt - Red

10. Go to your Skirt Original folder and Right Click on skirt and choose to Copy and and PASTE IT. The link will stay in original folder and more the original skirt object into RLV folder

11. Go to SL Inventory System folder called Clothing and make the same folder path and put the original skirt folder here.

Clothing
   [CLOTHING RLVed]
       [SKIRT RLVed]
           [SHORT SKIRT RLVed]

12. If you did it right and you write in the Inventory Search the skirt folder name you will have this nice view:

This way you will always know which clothes you have already uploaded to wardrobe, so you wont do it twice.

13. Do the same setps from 1-14 for the other two skirts too.

14. Click on Wear icon for wear one skirt (Shirt icon above skirt picture)

15. If you did all steps right the Skirts will change on your Avatar.

Troubleshooting:

I end up wearing two skirts:
          - You didnt set "Replace layer and attachments" in Main Preferences
          - The skirts are not set to wear on Left hip

The skirt doesnt come on me:
         - there is no skirt object in the RLV folder
         - the Skirt folder name is not exactly same as the Item Name (Item Title) on Wardrobe Website
         - the Skirt Folder name starts with . or - or & or other idk weird character that confuses RLV system. Remove the character from the beginning of Item Name on Wardrobe and in RLV folder too. But never use / in the folder name nowhere. (remove characters from a folder name only if the skirt doesn't come on you. There is no need for rename every RLV item folder you set up for Wardrobe if they working well with the original folder name.

Dont use . or - at the beginning of item name
Dont use = anywhere in item name
using the &
works: JF Design "Calista" Skirt&Panties
sometimes works and other times doesnt work: JF Design "Calista" Skirt & Panties

Example weird Folder names that works well with RLV Sytem without any problem:

!EE Fit mesh leather skirt v1 with HUD
Legal Insanity - Bella lace shorts&skirts FATPACK
Skirt-Panties-Black
(Milk Motion) laced mini skirt - LARA - blue embroided denim
7. .::Dead Dollz::. Ballet Skirt - White
:::insanya::: MicroTutu - Leo
REIGN.- COVEN SKATER SKIRT (MAITREYA) WHITE #8
JF Design "Calista" Skirt&Panties
[Glitzz] Micro Skirt - White
*MC* Alice Skirt Tie Dye
[I<3F] - Top [04] - [undress me!]

lesson #3: Long Dress

In this short lesson we set up a Dress.

 Calling it "Long" not because its down to the ankle but because its longer than be able to wear it with a pants or leggings.

A Long Dress:
  • worn on Left Shoulder
  • it should take off things im wearing on Lef Hip (pants, skirt, leggings, jogger)
Using Attachment Point System so when we wanna wear the dress we need to tell to Wardrobe:
Dear Wardrobe, when i put on this Dress please take off the things im wearing on Left Hip.
Edit the Dress Entry and go to Dressing tab and find the Left Hip and make the checkbox active.

If you read the informations at the top it says: Remove the following clothing layers / attachments before putting on this outfit. (outfit in this case is our Long Dress).

For example im wearing a Blouse and a Jeans and i wanna put on a Long dress.
The Long Dress will replace the Blouse and this little settings on Dressing tab remove things from Left Hip will remove the Jeans for me. And i end up wearing only the Long Dress.

for RLV folder set up and Wardrobe Main Preferences go to lesson #1 and lesson #2

lesson #5: 1 piece (Left Lower Leg) shoes vs 2 piece (Left and Right Lower Leg) shoes

In this lesson you can learn how to replace two pieces shoes with one piece shoes.

 Shoe Types [ at least what i have :D ]:

  1 piece rigged shoes and the 2 pieces rigged or unrigged shoes.

  •  1 piece Rigged shoes Worn on Left Lower Leg.
  •  2 pieces Rigged/Unrigged shoes Worn on Left and Right Lover Leg.

 With Attachment Point System (Replace Wearing Policy) the 1 piece Rigged shoes nicely replacing wach others when i change shoes.

But what to do with 2 pieces shoes?

  • Left worn on Left Lower Leg
  • Right worn on Right Lower Leg

and when i wanna put on an 1 piece Rigged shoes the Left one will be replaced but the Right one will stay on me.

For solve this create an object:

  1. Attachment Remover - Right Lower Leg
  2. Wear it on Right Lower Leg attachment point

Then rezz it and put this script inside:

default

{

    attach(key id)

    {

        if (id != NULL_KEY && llGetAttached() != 0)

        {

            llRequestPermissions(id, PERMISSION_ATTACH);

        }

    }

    run_time_permissions(integer perm)

    {

        if (perm & PERMISSION_ATTACH)

        {

            llSleep(2.0);

            llDetachFromAvatar();

        }

    }

}

4. Then make an entry for it on Wardrobe and in RLV folder too (Wearing Policy: Replace)

5. Now just add it as Put On More outfit to the Feet Entry:

6. Foot Base ready to be added as Base to the 2 shoes i have:

The 1 piece rigged shoes:

The 2 piece rigged / unrigged shoes:

So what happens here?
  • When im wearing 1 piece rigged shoe and i wanna put on 2 piece shoe:
the Legacy Feet Base will put on the Right Feet Remover (nothing to take off) and 2 piece shoe Left one will replace the 1 piece rigged shoes.
  • When im wearing the 2 piece shoes and i wanna put on the 1 piece shoes
 the Legacy Feet Base will put on the Right Feet Remover and it will take off the Right side of 2 pieces shoe and then the will replace the rigged 1 piece shoes on Left Lower Leg.

Change Outfits with Clothing Type System part 2: THE ALPHA

Yesterday i got a question from a Wardrober.

 "What if i put on an ♻ OUTFITS (pants, skirt and shoes) with their alpha and then i wanna replace the pants with a skirt wich has no Clothing Type tag? The skirt would replace pants but the alpha would be still there."

Im glad i get questions like this so i can brainstorm about it and implement ideas into my little new Mixed system :)

For this test i made a new outfit: OUTFIT005 - Sporty

Put on More Items:

Attachment Point System:
  • Sweater
  • Pants
  • Hair
Clothing Type System:
  • Earring (♻ JEWELRY)
I need to wear alpha for Sweater and Pants too to hide my peeking out sexy bits.

Befor this test i had only ♻ ALPHA tag and Clothing Type Settings was looking like this:

 Rule: ♻ OUTFITS remove ♻ ALPHA

In this settings you can see only  ♻ OUTFITS item can remove ♻ ALPHA tagged items.

So back to the question:
  • if i was wearing an ♻ OUTFITS (pants and top) with pants Alpha and
  • i put on a skirt which has no ♻ OUTFITS tag
  • then pants alpha wont come off.

For answer the question i realized i need to split ♻ ALPHA tag into pieces.

♻ ALPHA [SCALP]
♻ ALPHA [TOP]
♻ ALPHA [BOTTOM]
♻ ALPHA [FULL]
♻ ALPHA [FEET] (not done yet)
♻ ALPHA [HAND] (not done yet)

♻ OUTFITS takes off:
  • ♻ ALPHA [SCALP]
  • ♻ ALPHA [TOP]
  • ♻ ALPHA [BOTTOM]
  • ♻ ALPHA [FULL]
♻ ALPHA [SCALP] takes off ♻ ALPHA [SCALP]

♻ ALPHA [TOP] takes off:
  • ♻ ALPHA [TOP]
  • ♻ ALPHA [FULL]
♻ ALPHA [BOTTOM] takes off:
  • ♻ ALPHA [BOTTOM]
  • ♻ ALPHA [FULL]
♻ ALPHA [FULL] takes off:
  • ♻ ALPHA [TOP]
  • ♻ ALPHA [BOTTOM]
  • ♻ ALPHA [FULL]

Now you would think i added ♻ ALPHA.... tags to tops and pants and to hairs...NO!
I still dont want to add clothes to the Clothing Type System, I want my clothes, hair, shoes use the Attachment Point System and using REPLACE Wearing Policy so i wont stand there like a bald naked noob while changing.

I made separated entries for the pants and sweater alpha and tagged them with ♻ ALPHA....

Alpha entries for
Sweater and Pants

And now i can use the alpha entries in Pants and Sweater entry as "Put On more Outfits"

What happens here!? ahhahaa We tricked the system. LMAO i didnt know it would be possible.

We can trigger the Clothing Type Systenm with an Attachment Point Item!!!
This way the Sweater and the Pants will still using the Replace Wearing Policy (has no Clothing Type tag)
and it will put on the alphas by using Clothing Type System with Clothing Type tags.

And when it happens it will check if im wearing another alpha with Clothing Type tag and taking it off.

Conclusion: I need to create entries tagged with
  • ♻ ALPHA [SCALP]
  • ♻ ALPHA [TOP]
  • ♻ ALPHA [BOTTOM]
  • ♻ ALPHA [FULL]
without any object or alpha layer to put on. (Empty Entry will be called CS Trigger Entry)
and add them as Put On More outfits for clothes, hair, shoes that has no Clothing Type tag. So they will trigger the Clothing Type System to remove desired aphas. (NEED TO TEST)

If you need help with the settings just IM me.

Change Outfits with Clothing Type System part 1: MIXED SYSTEM

Using Mixed Attahment Point and Clothing Type System.
 These Outfits has no Body or Skin or Makeup changes (Not using Naked Base Outfit).

 Outfits changing:
  • Clothes
  • Hair
  • Shoes
  • Jewelry
  • Accessories

Using Attachment Point System for (Wearing Policy: Replace):
  • Hair (worn on Skull)
  • Clothes (worn on Left Shoulder: Tops, worn on Left Hip: Bottoms)
  • Shoes (worn on Left Lower Leg)
Using Clothing Type System for:

Settings:
* im using Page Manipulator for change Clothing Type names in the Matrix.

The most simple outfit of the 4 is the OUTFIT004 - White Angel
Its called Ghost Entry because its not an RLV folder. Its just an Entry on Wardrobe Page and using the Put On More Outfits settings to wear other Wardrobe Entries.

Put On More Items:

As you can see the Dress, Hair, Shoes has no Clothing Type System tag. They are using the Attachment Point System with Replace Wearing Policy.
Hair replaces other Hair on Skull Attachment Point
Clothes replace other Clothes on Left Shoulder (Tops, Dress), Left Hip (Skirt, Pants, Panties...etc)

Giving Clothing Type System tag to items only if they are part of a Ghost Enrty which has the
♻ OUTFITS tag

Special cases
  • Change from a Top-Skirt outfit to Long Dress outfit:
A Long Dress Attachment Point is Left Shoulder, so it will replace a Top but for replace the Skirt i made a Left Hip Attacment Remover Entry which using Replace Wearing Policy to remove the Skirt from Avatar. This i add to the Long Dress Entry as Put On More Outfit.

  • Remove Alpha
Separated Entry and added to the Clothes or Hair Entry as Put On more Outfits.
The Alpha Entry will have the ♻ ALPHA tag. And it seems it must have Replace Wearing Policy, but the Alpha Layer or Attachment must be ADDed so i put it in +alpha subfolder and write it into the Subfolder field.

So far i made 4 Outfits and adding more to test different possibilities to see what things to need to be solved still.

Notes for myself to test later:

I need to test what happens if one outfit has 2 or more Accessories attached to same Attachment point. Because it seems the Clothing System doesnt clean the Attament Point (Replace), its just removes items based on their Clothing Type Tag.

For example wearing
Cigarette, and Bag on Right Hand
and trying to put on another Outfit, it seems only Cigarette or Bag will come off but not both.

♻ OUTFITS tag removes ♻ ACCS from Right Hand Attachemnt Point 1 times (Bag removed)
Not repeating for the Cigarette.

But im not sure if it was just lag or not, i need to set up 2 Outfits for test this thing.
